School Counselling and Wellbeing Unit

School Counseling and Wellbeing, an autonomous academic unit demonstrates its commitment to advancing education and psychological wellbeing through its academic programs. In August 2023, the launch of a one-year M.Ed. in School Counseling marked a significant step in this direction, followed by the expansion to a two-year M.Ed. in 2024 in response to demand. Moreover, an MPhil/PhD program in School Counseling and Psychological Wellbeing was introduced to cater to the growing need for research-based education in this area. In a relatively short period, the program has built a strong reputation as an academic and research-oriented initiative, uniting efforts to support student mental health, promote contemplative practices, and address various aspects of psychological wellbeing.

The academic unit aims to:

Offer degree programs (Masters, MPhil, PhD) focused on contemplative education, psychological wellbeing, and the application of these practices in diverse educational contexts.

Develop educational approaches that integrate mindfulness, meditation, and other contemplative practices into both the academic curriculum and the emotional/psychological support systems within educational institutions.

Create a research-driven environment that explores the effectiveness of contemplative practices in improving psychological wellbeing, enhancing learning outcomes, and promoting a holistic approach to education.

Address the increasing demand for professionals skilled in both educational leadership and psychological wellbeing, particularly within schools, community programs, and healthcare systems.

Currently, the unit runs following programs:
