NSIS Erasmus+ Project

Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project, co-founded by the European Union

Project title: Developing Information, Research and Digital Skills for Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal

Acronym: NSIS

Project Number: 101179133

Duration: December 2024-Nov 2027

Budget: 50,332.80 EURO (@KU)

About the Project

The NSIS Project aims to enable HEIs in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal to deliver enhanced information support for research, business, and innovation in their respective regions. The project recognizes that Library and Information Services (LIS) play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academia, business, and research, ensuring that key stakeholders have access to the knowledge and resources needed to drive innovation and economic growth.

To achieve this, the project will focus on:

  • Developing a Library and IS staff development strategy that improves standards, range, and quality of library services.

  • Enhancing the digital, transferable, and lifelong learning skills of Library and IS staff.

  • Strengthening university engagement with businesses and researchers to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-sharing.

  • Creating the NSIS Modular Curriculum, a specialized training program that offers modern IS, Information Literacy, and key transferable skills tailored to the needs of businesses and researchers.

By building capacity in HEIs, expanding skills supply, and increasing participation in education, training, and the labour market, the NSIS project directly supports the development of knowledge economies in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
