Capacity Development of Instructors
Overview
This project aims to strengthen the TVET sector by investing in instructor capacity building, a key strategy for attracting, retaining, and improving the performance of qualified staff.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- To revise and update the current training modules for instructors, ensuring they are aligned with the minimum competency standards set by TITI/CTEVT and meet university requirements to facilitate long-term degree awarding.
- To recognize the existing competencies of instructors or similar new competencies, provide necessary bridge courses, and facilitate their enrollment in degree programmes.
- To offer certification and award university degrees at the master's level or at the postgraduate diploma level in education.
Expected Outcome
The program is expected to yield the following outcomes:
- This project develops a strong foundation for developing high-quality technical instructors in Nepal.
- It will support the development of capacity through collaboration between and among institutions that provide training to instructors at the national level, Kathmandu University (with TITI), and sub-national (with ETC) levels.
- It will also promote flexibility through credit transfer, mobility in their academic career, and mainstreaming into higher education.
- The project supports Kathmandu University in expanding its capacity so that it will be able to train about 50 instructors yearly through the programmes, including short-term modular, graduate, post-graduate, and master in TVET.
- Integrating AI in courses and in the pedagogical processes.
